Writing Groups 2026/2027.
Once again in 2026/27 I will be running three writing groups at the Open Door in Lewes, East Sussex. Two years ago I changed the format, capping the number of participants to five writers in each group, and this has proved a positive change. The smaller number allows for deeper conversation about our writing practices, and also means each writer can submit work (up to 5000 words) every month. Three writers’ submissions are workshopped by the group (on rotation), while the remaining two writers submit to me only. The current participants have told me this opportunity to submit every month has very much helped them keep on track with their projects.
In 26/27 I will be running the groups from September through May. There will be 9 sessions in total. Each group meets once a month and the session runs from 10 am to 2 pm, with a short break for coffee and snacks. I am sorry to say that both these groups are now full. Please do contact me to be put on a waiting list for next year, which means I will be in touch as soon as registration opens.
The dates for the 26/27 Groups are:
Wednesdays: Sept 9, Oct 7, Nov 4th, Dec 9, Jan 6, Feb 10, March 10, April 7, May 5
Saturdays: Sep 12, Oct 10, Nov 14, Dec 12, Jan 9, Feb 13, Mar 6, April 10, May 8
The total fee for the year (8 meetings) is £1100. I ask for a deposit of £250 to reserve your place, and then the remainder of the fee when the course starts in September. I am always willing to decide on a payment schedule, however, with the cost spread over a year, if that is helpful.
